Pro-active street vendor uses spray paint to create parking spot

Picture: Sakhon Online

A picture posted to the online Samut Sakhon community has been making the rounds as it shows a local street vendor taking matters into his own hands.

Frustrated by the lack of parking (which many Thailand food stall owners complain about), the unidentified man is pictured using a spray paint can to change the colour of the red and white-striped ‘no parking’ areas to black and white.

As people shared the post, Police caught on and arrived at the stall location within hours and ordered the vendor to restore the curb to its original designation.

To add salt to the wound, the city district chief later announced that the stall in question was encroaching illegally on a pedestrian walkway. The owner has been given seven days to remove his stall or the authorities will help him and send him the bill.

Som-nam-na.
