The 13th Lucky plate number auction kicks off

The Department of Land Transport launched the Gor Gai Wor Waen (กว) category of lucky car plate number auctions yesterday, offering 301 numbers. At least 23 million Baht is expected to be raised from this year’s auction.
The auction takes is taking place yesterday and today (March 3,4) from 8.30 am on at Phuket’s Rajabhat University conventional hall, gathering a large number of auctioneers and Phuket authorities.
“There have been 12 times we’ve auctioned personal car plate numbers which has generated 238,495,500 Baht of income to the road safety foundation. The Gor Gai Wor Waen category means ‘wealth, fortune and virtue’. This is already the 14th auction if we count the truck / van plate number auction which has Bor Bor (บบ) category this year,” said Chief of Phuket Land Transport Office, Banyat Kanta.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director General of Land Transport Department, Kamol Buranapong, said that the department offered to conduct the auctions since 2003 in order to raise money to run campaigns about road safety in every province.
Every auctioneer make merit through the auction as part of the income will be spent on the assistive devices for disabled people from road accidents.
