How to make a CDC-recommended face mask (without a sewing machine) – VIDEO

The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in the US announced they were recommending citizens wear masks in public as a way to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals who are ‘coronavirus asymptomatic’ (not showing symptoms), and that even those who eventually develop symptoms, can transmit the virus to others. This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity through, speaking, coughing, or sneezing, even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms.”

As a result, the CDC recommended wearing cloth masks in public.

In Thailand the wearing of masks whilst in public spaces, is now compulsory with some provinces applying fines to those that ignore the requests. Whilst there has been a lot of controversy in the past, about the effectiveness of wearing masks as a preventative measure, it has been a common trend in most Asian countries, including Thailand. The wearing of a face mask could be seen as a local courtesy and reassurance to other citizens as much as a useful preventative measure – either way WEAR A MASK WHEN IN PUBLIC in Thailand.

The recommended masks are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators as “those are in critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.”

Mask supplies are running low worldwide so here is how you can make a mask from household materials without the need to sew.
