Liam Payne lured by drug dealers before tragic fall in Buenos Aires

Former One Direction star dies after being targeted by drug dealers in Argentina

Liam Payne, the 31-year-old former One Direction singer, had managed to overcome his drug addiction while living in the US. However, a close friend disclosed that drug dealers in Buenos Aires lured him back into despair during a hotel stay.

Payne had battled mental health issues for years and had sought various treatments for his alcohol and drug misuse. Recently, he had made significant progress and was under the care of a new psychiatrist in Miami, hoping to start anew with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy.

Unfortunately, his trip to Argentina to renew his US visa ended in tragedy. Drug dealers targeted him at his Buenos Aires hotel, delivering narcotics to his room. A close friend revealed that despite being clean for weeks and undergoing multiple rehab treatments in the UK and California, Payne was preyed upon by individuals who only cared about profit.

The Casa Sur Hotel staff in Palermo, where Payne died, are now under investigation for allegedly supplying him with drugs. A cleaner and another hotel employee reportedly hid narcotics in a Dove soap box found in Payne’s room. Detectives discovered white powder, chemical crystals, prescription tablets, and other drug paraphernalia in the suite.

Police have sent the substances, believed to be cocaine and crack cocaine, for analysis. They are also investigating why a taxi was booked for Payne to an impoverished neighbourhood 15 miles away, linked to a suspected drug supplier.

According to the confidant, two hotel employees provided Payne with drugs, sending taxis to collect packages. After Payne’s death, it was discovered that one taxi had gone to the cleaner’s home address, leading to his dismissal. The friend added that despite Payne’s efforts to stay clean, he was offered alcohol and drugs as soon as he arrived at the hotel.

Payne died after falling from his third-floor balcony last Wednesday afternoon. A post-mortem revealed he suffered multiple injuries. Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office is treating his death as ‘inconclusive’ while awaiting toxicology results, expected within 10 to 15 days. Prosecutor Marcelo Roma is investigating the role of illegal drugs and prescription medication in Payne’s death.

Payne’s father, Geoff Payne, arrived in Buenos Aires last week to identify his son’s body and arrange its repatriation to the UK. The singer’s funeral is anticipated to take place in November.
