Phuket dart league calls for new teams
PHUKET: Dart players of Phuket step forward: the Patong Darts League (PDL) is seeking one more team to round out the field to six in the next season of play, tentatively scheduled to begin on May 10.
One of the longest-running competitive leagues on the island, the PDL has been enjoying games continuously for over a decade and has seen many people and teams come and go.
Play hardly missed a beat following the tsunami disaster of 2004, and players kept tossing in 26s even as the military was staging its last military coup during a night of games in 2007.
But now the league is down to just five teams after Mangmoom (Spider Web) Bar dropped out following a difficult first season.
A sixth team is desperately needed; otherwise teams will periodically have to suffer through a “bye week” due to the odd number of sides.
There is a 2,000 baht entry fee for each team, proceeds from which go toward the season-end league party.
Hemingways (formerly Piccadilly) won the recently completed league, with Patsy and the gang at Market Bar coming in second.
Anyone interested in learning more about the league is encouraged to attend the league party at Hemingways (Banzaan Market, behind Jungceylon) in Patong on Tuesday, May 3.
