Thalang Police hunt temple thief

PHUKET: Police are hunting a man who was caught on CCTV stealing more than 10,000 baht worth of property from Srisoonthorn Temple on Saturday.

Thalang Police were notified of the incident at about 2:30pm after the temple’s Supervisor of Cultural Tourism, Somchai Saethan, discovered that his office had been broken into while he was attending morning meditation.

“The suspect used a screwdriver to open the window and enter the room,” confirmed Lt Col Sanit Nukong of the Thalang Police. “He then stole a gold necklace worth about 5,600 baht, a mobile phone worth 5,000 baht and 200 baht in cash.”

“We hope to apprehend him soon,” Col Sanit said.
