Student shot at Phuket school

PHUKET: A 12-year-old boy is safe after getting shot in the leg at school yesterday evening.

‘Daeng’, a P6 student at Baan Manik School, and his friends were about to go home for the day when he felt something hit his leg.

“I felt pain and looked down and saw that I was bleeding. My friends called the teachers over to help,” Daeng said.

“I have no idea who would want to shoot me. I haven’t had any arguments with anyone.”

Police are awaiting information from the doctor to identify the type of bullet used in the shooting.

“We are currently looking for the shooter. However, at this stage it’s very difficult, as there is no CCTV in the area,” said Lt Kraisorn Boonprasop of the Thalang Police.

“It’s possible that it was a random shooting or that someone overshot and injured the boy by accident.

“We are lucky that it didn’t cause any serious injuries.”
