Phuket Governor inspects flash flood and landslide areas along the coast

Phuket’s new Governor Pakkapong Tawipat, just two days into the job, yesterday visited Kamala and Patong to survey the damaged areas after the torrential rain storm, flash floods and landslides.

Parts of Phuket’s west coast were awash yesterday with localised torrential rain. The rain came from a concentrated rain cell that sat over a ten kilometre stretch, drenching Kamala all the way to southern Patong, Kalim and the coastal road for over an hour between 11am and midday.

Officials, led by Phuket Governor Pakkapong Tawipat, inspected flooded areas around Kamala. The Governor has ordered officials to urgently repair damaged areas to the main road and find solutions to prevent further landslides in the area. He’s also ordered district officials and local government organisations to closely monitor the situation and prepare rescue equipment and personnel for 24-hour emergency response.
