A video clip of wastewater flowing into sea at Patong Beach has gone viral in social media over the weekend.

Patong Municipality yesterday issued a statement saying, “Referring to the case of waste water adjacent to the Diamond Cliff Beach Resort and Spa, Kalim Beach, two water pumps transferring waste water had stopped working due to the amount of sand and leaves.”

“This caused the waste water to overflow and flow to Kalim beach. Recently, Patong municipality sent a team to fix the issue by cleaning and fixing the water pumps to be functional again.”

“At the moment, there is still some water flow to the beach, yet the condition of the water is now clear. We will inform you if any further work is done to the pumps.”
