The much-anticipated Laguna Phuket Tri-Fest 2013 will kick off with the legendary Laguna Phuket Triathlon (LPT) on Sunday (November 24) which is celebrating its 20th anniversary and will finish with the Challenge Laguna Phuket a week later on December 1.

The seven days in between will be filled with numerous training sessions competitions and social activities at the destination resort. The enduring appeal of Laguna Phuket Triathlon and the unique challenges of Challenge Laguna Phuket are attracting entries from leading international pro athlete personalities, as well as amateur athletes worldwide.

Below are video training tips, provided by the legendary Chris McCormack, for the three disciplines of triathlon: Swim, bike and run.

Chris has won over 200 races, including 12 Ironman titles, and been the only person ever to be Olympic Course and Ironman World Champion.

Chris has also been International Triathlete of the Year an amazing five times, and once declared the world’s Fittest Man by ESPN Sports.

Phuket’s Rawai Mayor, Aroon Solos, ordered all beaches in the area to close after a foreigner was rescued this morning after being unable to make it back to shore. The foreigner was swimming off Ao Sane beach, just north of the popular Nai Harn Beach, when lifeguards were sent out to help bring him back to shore. The recent weather has been partly attributed to Tropical Storm Noul as other beaches areas around Patong have been closed since Friday.
