Korean owner of Phuket snake farm busted with drugs

PHUKET: The Korean owner of a Phuket snake farm was arrested at the Thai border with Cambodia this morning when he tried to smuggle ya ice (crystal methamphetamine) and marijuana into the Kingdom.

The Korean, identified as 51-year-old Eun Sooyong, was passing through a security checkpoint at the Phrom Daen border crossing in the Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaew Province, across from the Cambodian town of Poipet.

Acting on an informant’s tip-off, police searched the Korean’s suitcase and found two small bags of ya ice, with a total weight of 1.34 grams, as well as a small black bag containing 6.2 grams of dried marijuana.

Confessing to charges of trying to smuggle the narcotics into the country, Mr Eun said he bought the drugs from a Cambodian man at the Ho Wah Genting Casino in Poipet.
