iStink telephone? Man steals mobile, sticks it in his underpants
PHUKET: A Thai man was arrested for stealing and hiding a hapless tourist’s telephone in his underpants at a Patong tour agency yesterday afternoon.
Kuwaiti tourist Abdul Nabimh Redha, 38, filed a complaint at 2:30pm with Lt Col Somsak Thongkliang of Patong police station.
“Mr Redha told us that he put his mobile on the counter at the ‘All in One Travel’ shop and went to his room for ten minutes. When he returned, the phone had disappeared,” said Col Somsak. “We went to the shop and questioned Kattamon Chayathayakron, a staff member there.”
“He told us he didn’t have any knowledge of the matter, but since he was acting suspiciously, we did a body search and found the phone stuffed into his underpants.”
Mr Kattamon was charged with theft and confessed to the crime. He was taken to Patong Police Station for booking.
The management team confirmed today that disciplinary and legal action has been taken against the employee and said the victim was satisfied with the company’s resolution of the matter.
A spokesperson for the agency stressed that the employee acted alone.
