Heroin overdose suspected in American expat’s death in Phuket
PHUKET: Police suspect that a 29-year-old American expat found dead on the side of the road in Kamala early last Sunday morning died of a heroin overdose.
Not far from where the body of Texan Benjamin Nesher Jones was found on Soi 8, police arrested another man with 18grams of heroin.
“We believe that Mr Jones died because of a drug overdose. However, we are waiting for the autopsy results to officially name the cause of death,” Maj Somnuk Damkeaw of the Kamala Police told the Phuket Gazette.
“We do know the two men were together before Mr Jones died.”
According to his Facebook page, Mr Jones was working on the island for Phuket You Properties.
The other man, who was arrested in a nearby house, was charged with possession of a Category 1 Drug with intent to sell, Kamala Police Superintendent Patthanajak Jakkapan confirmed.
