Woman dies in bizarre suicide

PHUKET TOWN: In a bizarre suicide, a woman who was having money problems killed herself on Thursday by drinking a bottle of dishwashing liquid. The husband of Pattama Maneesri, 44, came home in the afternoon to find her lying unconscious on the kitchen floor of her home on Wichit Songkhram Rd. She was still holding the empty dishwashing liquid bottle, and there were traces of the liquid on her lips. K. Pattama was rushed to Wachira Phuket Hospital, but doctors were unable to revive her. Police investigating the incident learned from K. Pattama’s relatives that she and her husband, who had recently lost his job, had fallen on hard times. The relatives said that, in addition to her money difficulties, K. Pattama had suffered from back problems necessitating frequent visits to the hospital for medication.
