Video Report: Rescue worker dances with king cobra
PHUKET: A two-meter-long cobra was successfully wrangled after hiding from rescue workers at the back of a rental room in Chalong yesterday evening.
Kusoldharm Foundation rescue workers received the call from a woman who had seen the reptile while getting water from her well at Baan Na Bon.
“When we arrived, we couldn’t find the cobra, but after searching around for a while, we were finally able to locate it under some dresser drawers and broken roof tiles,” rescue worker Sakun Naepnean said.
“It fought with the rescue worker, but we were able to bag it in about 5 minutes,” he added.
The 5kg cobra was released into the forest near Phuket Town.
“Please be careful of cobras and other dangerous animals. We are called to capture them nearly every day now,” Mr Sakun said. “Do not try and capture them yourself. Call us 24 hours a day at 076-246 301.”
Last week, a 30kg python was caught midway through gobbling up a chicken in Paklok (story here).
