Unidentified body washes ashore

THALANG: Local villagers discovered the body of an unidentified man washed ashore on the beach at Sirinath National Park around 11 am yesterday. Pol Capt Sappawat Suksiri, of Tah Chat Chai Police Station, told the Gazette that the man, who is believed to have been between 30 and 40 years old, was clad in a white and blue T-shirt, but wore no pants. He had dark skin and was 160 cm tall. Police have yet to determine the cause of death, although it is thought that the man died at least three days before his body was found. His head and face had been battered, but police believe this damage was caused by his head crashing into rocks after he died. Capt Sappawat said, “I thought originally that he might be from the crew of a boat that sank recently off Tab Lamu, in Phang Nga. But relatives of the men known to be aboard that boat could not identify him.” The body was taken to Thalang hospital.
