Two busted for selling ya bah
PHUKET TOWN: Narcotics agents yesterday arrested two people on drug-trafficking charges and seized 450 pills of “ya bah” (methamphetamine). Pol Lt Worapoj Wattanasuwan, deputy inspector of the Phuket Narcotics Police, told the Gazette that the police were tipped off by an informant that ya bah was being sold from a rented house in Soi Patcharee 4 in Baan Kuku, Tambon Rassada. At around midnight, an undercover officer posing as a drug user went to the house and bought 50 tablets from Narumon Bormuang, 36, the tenant. Once the transaction was complete, the officer identified himself and arrested her for possession and trafficking. During a subsequent search of the house, the police discovered Udom Nopparat, 23, who was found to have a further 400 tablets of ya bah hidden in his underwear. Lt Worapoj said that Narumon confessed that she had bought the pills from her regular source, a man whom police declined to identify. Udom confessed that he had been a customer of Narumon for a long time because he was addicted to ya bah. He also admitted to dealing in the drug.
