PHUKET: Tesco Lotus is bringing its popular ‘Get Healthy with Tesco Lotus’ exercise campaign to Phuket for the 6th year running ,with a road show at Tesco Lotus Thalang on Monday.

Tesco Lotus Senior Corporate Affairs Manager Charkrit Direkwattanachai said 16 million people nationwide have taken part in the activities since the program started.

“This year our target is to get six million people active, whether it be in our 100 community aerobics groups, our national aerobic competition, the Coronation Day Walkathon, football clinics, or our under-12 Tesco Lotus Cup football competition,” he said.

“Get Healthy with Tesco Lotus Year 6” encourages Thais to take exercise and look after their health under the “3G slogan”: Good Health, Good Life, Good Eating.

The roadshow also launches the national aerobics competition for the coveted Prem Tinsulanonda Trophy, with total prizes worth 1.73mn baht up for grabs.

Competition is divided into three age categories: under-15s, general public and over-35s. Regional heats, including the Southern heat in Phuket on May 13, will climax at the national finals in Bangkok on June 24 at Thammasat University’s Rangsit Sports Stadium.

Tesco Lotus also invites the public to upload unedited video of themselves doing aerobics to Facebook/gethealthywithtescolotus from May 15-31. The 10 videos getting the most “Like” responses will each win 5,000 baht.

The Thalang roadshow will also introduce Phuket to the 12 Tesco Lotus “Health Ambassadors” for the ‘Get Healthy with Tesco Lotus’ Year 6.

Young, lithe and exuding good health, the green-clad aerobic dance experts will show off their skills to build awareness of the benefits of exercise and health to the people of Thalang.

There will also be a variety of activities and games for customers of all ages – and shapes.

The fun starts after a press conference that begins at 3:30pm.

To enter the national aerobics competition, inquire at the Customer Service Point of any Tesco Lotus store, call 02-530 9383, or visit the website: www.tescolotus.com.
