Swing Set Collapse Kills Youngster

PA KHLOCK: A seven-year-old boy was killed last Thursday when a playground swing set collapsed during a morning recess at Ban Para School. Witnesses told Thalang District police that primary student Saroj Lawan was swinging on the apparatus with another male classmate at around 11 o’clock on the morning of November 26 when it suddenly collapsed. A metal support struck Saroj in the head. The other student escaped injury. The injured boy was rushed to Thalang Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival of head injuries. Police investigators called in to determine the cause of the accident reported that the swing set was about ten years old and had extensive rust. The remainder of the playground equipment was also checked by school and police authorities.
