‘Splash Jungle’ opens in Phuket
MAI KHAO, PHUKET: ‘Splash Jungle,’ Phuket’s first state-of-the-art water park, opened today on the grounds of the West Sands project in Mai Khao.
Among the park’s many attractions are a 335-meter ‘Lazy River’ water ride that meanders through seven themed sections: Inca-Maya, Africa, Asia, Turkey, Northern Europe, North America – and even the North Pole.
Two high-octane slide rides are sure to please thrill-seekers: ‘The Boomerango’ and ‘The Super Bowl’.
The Splash Jungle also features a wave pool, a family play area, a bar, a cafe and a number of shops.
The park, built at a cost of half a billion baht, covers 22,400 square meters and holds 6 million liters of water.
The project was designed and manufactured by White Water Industries of Canada, which claims to have over 4,000 projects around the world, including work on Disneyland and Sea World in the US.
Among the many dignitaries at today’s grand opening ceremony were Phuket MP Raywat Areerob and Phuket Vice Governor Teerayut Eimtrakul.
Splash Jungle is now open daily from 10am to 6pm.
The following introductory rates will apply for tourists until April 30, 2010:
Adults: 1,795 baht
Children: 1,050 baht
Children under 100cm tall: Free
Thais and foreign residents will pay the following:
Adults: 1,500 baht
Children: 1,050 baht
All rates are subject to a 10% service charge and 7% value added tax.
