Seven glue sniffers arrested

PHUKET TOWN: Seven glue sniffers came unstuck early yesterday morning when police officers on patrol caught them enjoying their preferred form of substance abuse, inhaling the vapor of rubber-based glue. Pol Col Apirak Hongthong, Deputy Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, and a sortie of officers were on their nightly midnight-to-6 am patrol when they came across five youngsters sniffing glue in a dark corner on Soi Si Sena at 2 am. The youngsters bolted in different directions, but to no avail. Those apprehended were named as Saree Jaroensri, 20, and Kosin Sangrat, Chaowalit Tipbamrung, Eakarin Wongmuang, and Adisak Jankarn, all 18 years old. Just 20 minutes later, Col Apirak and the accompanying officers discovered another two glue sniffers by the banks of Klong Bangyai on Rattanakosin 200 Pi Rd. Like their crosstown counterparts, the two men ran off, but were later caught by the officers. They were named as Niruj Mokakom, 21, and Anon Thinkwankaho, 22. Pol Maj Watcharin Jiratikarnwiwat, a duty officer at Phuket Town Police Station, confirmed that all seven were charged with substance abuse. “No one has come forward to post bail for them,” he added.
