Radio Thailand Phuket announces contest winner
PHUKET: Radio Thailand Phuket has announced a photograph by Sakorn Jarasbusarakam as winner of its Mothers’ Day Photo Contest.
The contest, under the theme “The bond between mother and child”, was held in celebration of national Mothers’ Day on August 12, also the 78th birthday of HM Queen Sirikit.
The winning entry shows a young mother blowing on a spoonful of baby food, preparing to feed it to her child.
“The contest topic was chosen in order to demonstrate the loyalty and gratitude felt for Her Majesty, for the innumerable benefits she bestows upon the people, and in harmony with her desire that a great resource of the nation be enhanced – that of mothers raising children by their own hands,” said Radio Thailand Phuket managing director Mrs Jirada Dichaya.
A related goal is that, by participation in activities together, families will become stronger and more stable.
More than 60 entries were received, not only from Phuket but also from Bangkok and surrounding provinces, northern Thailand, southern Thailand, Isarn, and from foreigners living in Thailand.
The selection committee comprised Phuket Bulletin story editor Jira Akewutipongschai; provincial public relations officer Wirapong Witayawongsakul; and Radio Thailand senior correspondent Chaiwut Poungsuwan.
The committee’s decision in favor of Sakorn Jarasbusarakam’s entry was arrived at unanimously.
The winner received a genuine pearl necklace with matching pearl earrings valued at about 5,000 baht. The prize was donated to the competition by the Prima Pearl shop.
Other entrants received cloth bags and umbrellas as consolation prizes.
