Popular British International School access road temporarily opened

PHUKET: Access to Soi Koh Kaew 33 from Thepkrasatri Road, a popular road alongside the Isuzu showroom and the Phuket Gazette office that leads to the British International School, has been ‘temporarily’ re-opened.

The road was closed in late July after nearly half of its width had fallen into a parallel drainage ditch. Since then, the Koh Kaew Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor) has been building a new retaining wall (story here).

“We’ve finished the retaining wall and will start on road construction sometime in the next two weeks,” Koh Kaew OrBorTor President Khuakiet Chitkhua told the Phuket Gazette.

“The road construction will be fast, not more than 15 days. However, we will have to close the road again during that time.”

Mr Khuakiet estimates that the project will end up costing a total of about 2 million baht.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience. We will do our best to finish the construction as soon as possible in order to make the road safe for everyone,” he said.
