Police unravel multi-million baht drug network run from prison
PHUKET: Krabi Police arrested four men last night who are part of a criminal network allegedly headed by an inmate in Bang Kwang Prison in Nonthaburi, just outside of Bangkok. Among the four was more than 28 million baht’s worth of ya ba pills (methamphetamine).
“Ya ba delivery agent Boworn Phetkuha, 28, was caught en-route to dropping off drugs for small scale distributors, by order of mid-level drug dealers Suthipon Tonyanit, 39 and Rerngsiri Rerngkarn, 39,” Col Kriangsak Nunkliang of the Krabi Provincial Police said this morning.
“Mr Boworn told us exactly who he was working for, allowing us to quickly arrest Mr Suthipon and Mr Rerngsiri. Those two then confessed that they worked with Chamna Kaewkan, 39, who was said to be working under the control of an incarcerated man named Ekkawat Thotthing.”
Following the lead, police arrested Mr Chamna.
“According to Chamna, Ekkawat is continuing to run his drug network from inside the prison, supplying much of Phang Nga and Krabi with ya ba.”
All four men were charged with possession of a category 1 drug with intent to sell.
