Phuket public urged to donate blood this month

Legacy Phuket Gazette

PHUKET: The Phuket Regional Blood Center (PRBC) has invited all qualified members of the public to donate blood this month in honor of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s 60th birthday on April 2.

“While we have enough blood stocks in Phuket, supplies are needed in Bangkok,” said acting PRBC chief Pornthip Rattajak.

The Thai Red Cross Society posted a message on its Facebook page on February 27, saying that blood donations in Bangkok were urgently needed as supplies were running low.

Most urgently needed is Rhesus-negative [Rh-] blood type – especially type O-.

Anyone wanting to donate blood this month can do so at one of the mobile donation clinics set up at various locations around the island, said Ms Pornthip.

The mobile clinics will be at these locations on the following dates:

March 6: Tesco Lotus Phuket (in front of Uniqlo), midday-6pm
March 9: Isuzu Andaman Sales (Koh Kaew Branch), 1pm-4pm; Centara Karon Resort Phuket, 1pm-4pm
March 10: The Senses Resort, Patong, 1pm-4pm
March 11: Tesco Lotus Thalang, Midday-6pm
March 12: Mission Hospital Phuket, 1pm-4pm; Phuket International Hospital, 1pm-4pm
March 17: Banyan Tree Phuket, Thalang, 10am-3pm

March 19: Labor Region 8, Phuket Town, 10am-3pm
March 20: Phuket International Airport, Passenger Terminal, 10am-4pm
March 24: Siam Makro, Phuket Town, 1pm-4pm
March 26: Homepro Thalang, midday-4pm
March 27: Central Festival Phuket, midday-6pm
March 30: Phuket Provincial Hospital, Phuket Town, 10am-3pm
March 31: Tesco Lotus Phuket (in front of Uniqlo), midday-6pm
