Phuket joins online congratulations to HM The King | Thaiger

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Statistical Office (PPSO) has launched an online “book” for well-wishers to post birthday messages for HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

HM The King will celebrate his 83rd birthday this Sunday.

The PPSO website is part of a nationwide project by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology to gather 9,999,999 congratulatory messages by December 7.

Praphat Pukngam, acting chief of the PPSO, said the move follows a similar, highly popular project for HM Queen Sirikit’s birthday on August 12 this year.

Messages can be posted via two websites: royal.sipa.or.th/king and www.9forking.com. Mobile users can send free SMSs to 4567890.

As of November 30, there were 971 people in Phuket who had posted messages via the royal.sipa.co.th/king web portal, Mr Praphat said.

Activities around the island celebrating HM The King’s birthday include:

December 3: 7pm candle-lighting ceremony at Sri Puwanart Public Park on Pattana Tongtin Road in Wichit Municipality.

December 5: 7am food offering to Buddhist monks at the Rassada Municipality office and Queen Sirikit Park on Dibuk Road in Phuket Town.

9am signing of HM The King’s birthday wish book at the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization.

3:15pm live violin performance by British International School students at Loma Park in Patong followed by a candle-lighting ceremony at 4pm.

5:30pm candle-lighting ceremony at the central stage in Saphan Hin.
