Phuket to host Canon Photo Marathon Thailand 2009
PHUKET CITY: Central Festival Phuket will host the Canon Photo Marathon Thailand 2009 photography contest on December 26 at in the outdoor area on the ground floor.
The Phuket event will be the first and only leg of the photo marathon to take place in Southern Thailand.
Similar events have already taken place in Bangkok, Khon Kaen and Chiang Mai.
The competition will run from 8am to 8:30pm.
It is open to Thai nationals of all ages who are in possession of a Canon digital camera.
The contest will seek the best original images in three themes, to be announced on the day of competition.
The first theme will be announced at 10am, after which time participants will have only until noon to submit their best image.
The second and third themes will be announced at 1pm and 3pm respectively, with participants again given just two hours to submit images.
The judges will make their decisions in all three categories from 6pm to 7pm, with the awards ceremony to follow.
The ‘Best of Show’ award winner will receive a Canon EOS 500D Digital Camera with lens and Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II printer, a total value of over 51,000 baht, the organizers say.
‘Best of Theme’ winners will get Canon IXUS 200 IS digital cameras and a Pixma MP648, with a total value of 22,790 baht.
Two merit award winners in each theme competition will win Selphy ES40 printers valued at 7,990 baht each.
