Phuket FC determined to win tonight’s game
PHUKET CITY: Phuket FC return to action tonight, determined to get their first-ever home win against last-place Phattalung.
In their last match at Yala, the Sea Dragons appeared on course for a second successive away point until Yala pounced in the 88th minute to complete home and away victories against Phuket.
According to Phuket FC coach Somsak Waijeran, the two-week break between fixtures has come at the right time, giving his players a chance to regroup.
Despite the heart-breaking loss in Yala, Mr Somsak told the Gazette his squad wasn’t too despondent.
Everybody has been training hard ahead of today’s fixture, with special emphasis on converting on scoring chances, he said.
Only once have the Sea Dragons scored more than one goal in a match this season.
Mr Somsak also revealed he has some concerns at the back.
As the team’s right back and center halves have been struggling changes might be forthcoming, he said.
Tonight’s match against last-place Phattalung represents the Sea Dragons’ best remaining chance of registering a home win this season.
Mr Somsak admitted he didn’t know much about the visitors, but said that given their lowly position he didn’t expect them to pose much threat.
The beleaguered coach acknowledged that tonight’s fixture is a must-win game for the home side.
The match will take place at Surakul Stadium, with kick-off at 7pm.
