Phuket Airport to undergo full-scale “explosive’ emergency drill

PHUKET: A full-scale emergency-response drill will take place at Phuket International Airport today – Wednesday, July 31 – as part of the Phuket International Airport Emergency Plan 2013.

“The exercise will begin at 10am and last for one hour, at the parking lot, right in front of Phuket Airport Terminal 2,” said Airports of Thailand’s Acting Phuket Director Somsiri Kuengsopha.

“The drill will involve explosives being detonated in the area. We have already installed signs around the airport to let people know about the drill, so visitors and passers-by will not be panicked when the drill is taking place,” she said.

“Please do not be alarmed if you hear the emergency alarm sound or see the exercise,” she added.

“Also, the public are welcome to come and observe the drill.”
