New GM appointed for Phuket’s renowned Boathouse
PHUKET: Marie Laure Fleury, formerly the resort manager at the upscale Triasara, Phuket, has been appointed General Manager of the Boathouse, the renowned 37-room boutique resort on Phuket’s Kata Beach.
Effective immediately, Ms Fleury will oversee the lead-up to the reopening of the resort in October, the Gazette was told today.
The Boathouse resort and its adjacent Oasis Restaurant have been closed since June for extensive renovations.
“Marie Laure Fleury will bring new concepts and quality standards to the southern end of Phuket,” said Narong Pattamasaevi, chairman of Montara Hospitality Holdings Co Ltd, which owns both the Boathouse and Trisara.
Ms Fleury is a graduate of Lausanne Hotel School and is a 20-year veteran of the hospitality business.
“Her background in fine dining is an excellent match for Boathouse Wine & Grill,” Mr Narong added.
Before her two-year tenure at Trisara, Ms Fleury was Executive Assistant Manager of Food and Beverage at the Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok, a position she held after working at luxury hotel brands including Shangri-La and The Peninsula.
Ms Fleury takes up the position of GM in the footsteps of Louis Bronner, one of Phuket’s most liked and most respected hoteliers, who died in May.
