Myanmar national mysteriously drowns during Phuket fishing trip
PHUKET: A Myanmar national mysteriously drowned in Phuket while on a fishing expedition with his friends yesterday.
Mew Ow, 25, was last seen fishing at a large pond located near Yokkekeng Shrine in Rassada with four friends, before he suddenly disappeared.
His friends, also Myanmar nationals, called the Kulsoldharm Foundation for assistance.
“The Kulsoldharm Foundation diving team took only about 10 minutes to recover Mr Mew’s body from the water. It appears that he drowned,” said Capt Kaisorn Parkaree of the Phuket City Police.
“According to his friends, they were fishing along the edge of the pond when they suddenly realized that Mr Mew was no where to be seen. They searched for him but couldn’t find him.”
The body of Mr Mew was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a postmortem examination, confirmed Capt Kaisorn.
