Man charged with strangling mother-in-law
CHERNG TALAY: A man has confessed to strangling his mother-in-law after she chastised him for being lazy.
Neighbors of Srila Kanchorn, 52, a native of Phayao, found her body lying face-up in a coconut plantation in Baan Pasak about 9 am yesterday. She was dressed in a yellow shirt and light blue sports pants.
Cherng Talay Police Investigation Inspector Lt Col Jetsada Sangsuree said police believe she was killed about six hours before her body was discovered.
There were signs of bruising around the victim’s neck consistent with strangulation, he added.
When police went to question the victim’s family, her son-in-law 28-year-old Vutthichai Jittrarat, from Suphanburi, admitted to strangling Srila in a fit of rage after she verbally abused him for being lazy.
“He said that he did not intend to kill her,” Col Jetsada said.
Vutthichai was charged with premeditated murder and is now being held at Cherng Talay Police Station.
No one has requested his release on bail.
