Man, 27, found hanged in Phuket
PHUKET: Thalang Police believe financial woes led a Phuket man to take his life by hanging last night.
Shocked relatives of 27-year-old Awut Sakunchit awoke this morning to find his body suspended by the neck from a nylon cord tied attached to a ceiling support beam in his wife’s home in Thepkrasattri subdistrict.
When Thalang Police and Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation workers arrived at the one-room concrete dwelling in Village 8, they found a large number of neighbors gathered at the door trying to catch a glimpse inside.
Once past the onlookers, they saw that relatives of the late Mr Awut had already cut the cord and lowered his body to the floor, covering it with a green towel.
Relatives, including the mother of the late Mr Awut, said he had a naturally cheerful disposition.
Though he had financial problems and was out of work, they saw no reason why he would end his life at such an early age, they told police
His wife, who works at the Tesco Lotus mall in Thalang, was not home at the time but has been informed of his passing, police said.
The body was taken to Thalang Hospital for examination and storage while the family make funeral preparations.
