MP’s sister involved in land probe

PHUKET: Investigators led by Pol Maj Gen Pansiri Prapawat today inspected three more plots of land with allegedly suspect titles. The three pieces belong to Yanyong Kebsup, a sister of Phuket Democrat MP Chalermlak Kebsup and wife of Phuket Provincial Administration Organization member Chaianan Suthikul; Boonkeng Srisansuchart, who was called to Phuket Town Police Station yesterday for questioning, and Pantong Naranong, who has also been questioned. The first plot visited was a 98-rai piece in the hills overlooking the bypass road in Phuket Town, and owned by K. Boonkeng. Officials spent two hours in the forest with him, ascertaining the borders of the land. Next stop was land close to Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort, owned by K. Yanyong. She and her husband met officials at the site, which is bisected by a road and stretches down to the sea. K. Yanyong told the police that she bought the land in 2001 for 30 million baht from Supharp Saksritawee and was not aware there was any problem with the NorSor 3 Gor paper. Like K. Boonkeng, K. Supharp was summoned for questioning yesterday. Gen Pansiri said K. Yanyong’s land paper was issued by fugitive former land official Thawatchai Anukul. The last stop was a 65-rai plot between Patong and Karon belonging to K. Pantong. After the inspections, Gen Pansiri said, “Tomorrow, we will call K. Yanyong in for questioning. We will also call K. Pantong in for further questioning. “We are trying to complete our checks on false land titles as fast as possible. Any officials found to have committed offenses will be sent before the Office of the National Counter Corruption Commission. I believe there are more officials involved.”
