King’s Cup Sets Sail

KATA: Racing at the 12th Phuket King’s Cup Regatta opened on Monday with 82 yachts taking part in The Boathouse Coastal Race. Olympic helmsman Andreas Bienz led a Swiss crew aboard Jenny III to victory in the Racing Class. Overall winners in the other four divisions were New Zealander Muzza Nordstrand on Fine Pitch in the Ocean Multihull Class; Andrew Hobin of the United Kingdom on Chant De Mai in the Classic Keelboats Class; Singapore’s Ben Vrie on Aquavit in the Cruising Class; and Filipino Andreas Soriano III on Irvmiren in the Ocean Cruising Class. The results of Tuesday’s Krabi Provincial Race from Kata to Phi Phi were not made available to the press as this report was filed. Today’s event is the Andaman Sea Race from Phi Phi to Kata.
