Indonesian boats caught fishing illegally

CHALONG: Phuket Marine Police boarded two Indonesian fishing boats moored near Koh Racha Noi on Sunday and arrested 10 crewmen for fishing illegally in Thai waters. Pol Lt Col Prathuang Srilamontri, inspector of the Phuket Marine Police, said that he had received a report from an investigation team that foreign boats had been seen fishing in Thai territory. At around 8 am, Marine Police found the two boats moored just off the island. Aboard were 10 Indonesian crewmen, fishing equipment, and about 60 kilos of fish. The crew were sent to Chalong Police Station, where they were charged with illegal immigration and using foreign boats to fish in Thai territory without permission. The men remain in custody at Chalong Police Station, while the boats are being held by the Marine Police near Phuket Town.
