Campsite plan for Nai Yang beach

PHUKET: Tourists will be able to camp out on Nai Yang beach under a proposal to set up a company to run a campsite business, with profits going to the local community. The Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor), and the Moo Baan Saku Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor) want to set up Saku Co with local stakeholders providing sites, equipment and facilities for campers. Chukiet Panyawai, President of the OrBorTor, told the Gazette, “In the high season a huge crowd of tourists come to Phuket.We have been trying to figure out how to bring them back again the next year. “This way, the local residents will get benefits. This is what concerns us most.” He said talks on the proposal with other government units were continuing. Nai Thon was also being considered for a similar experiment.
