Honeymooning tourist drowns

CHALONG: An Indian who was on his honeymoon in Phuket drowned yesterday while on an outing to Coral Island. Police named him as Sharma Dusmyant, aged 30. Pol Maj Anek Mongkol, of Chalong Police Station, told the Gazette that Mr Dusmyant was with a tour group. Details of the circumstances surrounding his death remain sketchy. Police were advised of the incident about 2pm. The caller said that Mr Dusmyant had drunk alcohol before going for a swim. There was speculation that he might have developed cramp. “Mr Dusmyant was taken to the Phuket International Hospital but the trip from Coral Island took about 30 minutes and he died before arriving at the hospital,” Maj Anek said. The body was flown back to India today.
