Help us eradicate sex tours – TAT boss
PHUKET: Anupharp Thirarath, the Director of the local office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), has appealed for information about any person or company involved in promoting sex for sale in Phuket. The appeal comes after TAT officers discovered websites offering child sex as part of package tours. One website offered three days and two nights’ stay, including sex with one child, for 50,000 baht. “We are investigating the owners of these websites and hope to have them arrested soon. This [type of business] destroys Phuket’s tourism. Tourists come here because Phuket is a popular tourist destination, not for sex,” K. Anupharp said. “Please let us know if you know of a person or a company that does something that destroys tourism in Thailand, especially in Phuket. Write to us or send us an email. We will keep all details confidential,” he added. Letters should be addressed to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Southern Office: Region 4, Phuket Rd, Amphur Muang, Phuket 83000. Alternatively, call the office at 076-211036 or 076-212213, or email tathkt@phuket.ksc.co.th.
