Heavy rains cause traffic delays

KOH KAEW: As the rain continues to fall on the island, motorists on Thepkrasattri Rd near Boat Lagoon this morning saw waters rise to more than a meter deep across the three northbound lanes.
Police allowed only high-clearance vehicles to pass, such as pickup trucks, directing them in single file through the shallowest point, while diverting other vehicles to alternative routes.
Many cars bound for the airport were advised to use the coastal road.
Motorists and people in landslide risk areas are urged to be wary of the hazards brought on by the recent deluge.
Heavy overnight rains on Monday resulted in a landslide in Patong on Tuesday in which three Burmese laborers died.
