Four injured in Patong Hill bus crash

PHUKET: Four people were injured after a tour bus crashed into a taxi on Patong Hill at about 9am today.

“The bus was exiting Patong and had almost crested the hill, when it suddenly started rolling backward,” said Sen Sgt Maj Amnuay Niewthong of the Patong Police. “It crossed into the opposite lane, hit a taxi and finally came to a rest.”

The four injured people, three bus passengers and the taxi driver, were taken to Patong Hospital.

Charges have yet to be pressed against the bus driver, Amornthep Jantharabut, 29.

“We will investigate the cause of the accident before filing any charges,” Sen Sgt Maj Amnuay said.

In a single week of July, three people were killed in two separate accidents on Patong Hill that involved over-sized vehicles (story here).
