Czech beauties arrive in Phuket
PHUKET: The final 14 candidates for the Miss Czech Republic Beauty Pageant 2012 landed in Phuket yesterday ahead of a weekend of public activities and photo shoots.
On clearing Customs, the 14 “beauties” were given flowers and welcomed to Phuket by Wannaprapa Suksomboon, deputy director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office in Phuket, and Phuket International Airport Director Pratueng Sornkham.
The TAT Phuket office says it will take advantage of the opportunity to promote Phuket tourism to the Eastern European market.
“The 14 contestants visited Pattaya before they made their way to Phuket. During their stay here they will take part in a lot of activities and go to many tourist attractions for photo shoots,” said Miss Wannaprapa.
“They will do all kinds of water sports: parasailing, diving, banana boating…. They will also visit Phang Nag Bay and Thalang Road in Old Phuket Town, and enjoy the spa services here,” she added.
“We have carefully selected the tourist attractions [for them to visit] to make sure we portray our province in the most beautiful way,” she said.
The contestants will be in Phuket until Monday, before flying back to the Czech Republic to prepare for the final round of the beauty pageant in March.
Phuket has welcomed beauty pageant contestants from many different countries in the past, including Belgium, Poland, France and Slovakia.
