Chalong death “was suicide’

CHALONG: Police have identified the body found hanging from a rubber tree in Chalong in the early hours of yesterday morning as that of Wachara Rodklongtan, 21, who lived with his parents in a house in Soi Nakok, Chalong.
Pol Maj Anek Mongkol, from Chalong Police Station, told the Gazette that K. Wachara is believed to have committed suicide.
He disclosed that four needles – believed to be broken-off hypodermic needles – were found in a vein in the deceased’s right arm.
Maj Anek speculated that K. Wachara had stuck these into himself in a bid to kill himself by bleeding to death. When this was not successful, K. Wachara had hanged himself.
The major said that K. Wachara’s parents told the police that their son had been upset on learning that his common-law wife – with whom he had a child – had a new partner.
“Wachara tried to get her to come back to him but apparently she refused,” he said.
“We are satisfied that the death was a suicide, and Wachara’s body has been returned to his family for them to arrange a funeral.”
