Carpenter murdered over loan
TUNG TONG: Sanguansak “Nui” Kamtong, a 25-year-old carpenter from Rayong, was allegedly shot dead by a fellow construction worker in the early hours of Saturday morning after repeatedly pestering his colleague for a small loan. Pol Lt Col Ampolwat Saengroeng of Tung Tong Police Station said he received a call at 12:30 am saying that a man had been shot. Officers arrived at the scene, a building site at Soi Namtok Bang Chang, to find Nui’s body lying face down in a pool of blood. He had been shot once in the chest. Col Ampolwat said that workers at the camp identified the killer as 46-year-old Somyos Tona, from Sakhon Nakhon, who also lived and worked at the camp. Police arrested Somyos later that morning, after officers spotted him walking past the old health center on Wichit Songkhram Rd. He was carrying the handgun police believe was used in Nui’s slaying. Somyos was taken to Tung Tong Police Station where, police say, he confessed to the shooting. Col Ampolwat said, “Somyos told officers that Nui kept asking him for money. However, he refused to loan Nui money again that morning. “Nui was drunk and started abusing him. Riled by the abuse, Somyos pulled out his gun and shot him.” Somyos has been charged with murder.
