Caddy’s killer to surrender “soon’

TUNG TONG: Police in Tung Tong are waiting for a colleague, Cpl Nanthawat Thongkwanbua, to surrender and answer allegations that he killed his girlfriend, 23-year-old Supanee Yongtong, on Sunday.

Nanthawat’s father told police that he would bring his son to the police station to answer the murder charge “in the next two or three days”.

The victim, a caddy at the Loch Palm Golf Course, had gone to visit a friend, Junthawon Terdtong, at her Bangtong Villa home in Kathu.

K. Junthawon told police that Nanthawat subsequently came to her home and asked to speak with Supanee. Leaving the couple alone to talk, Junthawon heard an argument erupt around midnight.

She went back into the room and tried to intervene. She saw Supanee hit Nanthawat and left to summon help from a neighbor. While outside, she heard a gunshot.

Nanthawat was seen riding away from the house on his police patrol motorcycle. Supanee was found lying on the floor. Police say that she died instantly from a .38 gunshot wound, the bullet having apparently entered the front of her neck and exited through her back. It was found embedded in a chair.

Pol Maj Ampholwathana Saengruang from Tung Tong Police Station said it appeared that Supanee was annoyed with Nanthawat, a married man, for not spending enough time with her, and that the couple had met to resolve their problems.

Maj Ampholwathana added that, according to K. Junthawon, Nanthawat had only recently told his girlfriend that he had a family. This, he suggested, had had an impact on the lovers’ relationship.

The major confirmed that Nanthawat, whether he surrenders or has to be apprehended, will be treated in the same way as anyone else charged with murder.
