Asian Beach Games: Muay Thai masters target medal takedown tonight
PHUKET: The opening rounds of the Muay Thai competitions for the Asian Beach Games get underway on Patong Beach, near the end of Soi Bangla.
At 5pm, Hoang Duc Le of Vietnam will enter the ring to take on Eugene Tan of Singapore in Bout 1 of the quarterfinals of the Men’s 48kg-Light Fly division.
Meanwhile, Chan Kai Tik from Hong Kong, will take on Ramin Haidary of Afghanistan in Bout 2.
At 5:40pm, Thailand’s Suepphong Phromduea will take on Hasan Mustafa Ali Altaae of Iraq in Bout 3 of the quarterfinals in his fight for gold.
The fights continue until 8pm, concluding with Bidhya Wati Rai of India taking on Linda Hatem Talal of Iraq in Bout 10 of the quarterfinals in the Women’s 60kg-Light division.
En route to the final fight tonight, three Thai fighters will be boxing for glory on home soil.
At 6pm, Thai fighter Parin Luangpon will take on Ngursaimawia of India in Bout 4 of the Round of 16 of the Men’s 54kg-Bantam weight division.
At 6:40pm, Thailand’s Pattanaphong Surichay will take on Geng Haojun of China in the Men’s 71kg-Light Middle weight division.
At 7:20pm, 18-year-old Thai Rachadaporn Wihantamma will take on Salina Salleh of Malaysia in the Women’s 57kg-Feather weight division.
The fights continue tomorrow, starting at 5pm.
