Another corpse found in Phuket’s Rasada area
RASSADA, PHUKET: Police have yet to identify the remains of a man whose badly decomposing body was discovered in a wooded area off the access road to Rassada Harbor on Wednesday.
Local residents found the deceased lying in a thicket about 100 meters from the road.
They called police, who found no signs of a struggle at the scene.
Phuket City Police Duty Officer Patarapon Patompon said the dead man was found lying near a linoleum mat with a blue pillow and a red blanket, but nothing to aid in identification.
Police estimate the man had died about 10 days before the body was discovered.
The body is now in the morgue at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
As of this morning, police have still not been able to identify the deceased and nobody has come forward to claim the body, Pol Lt Patarapon said, adding that he has yet to receive an autopsy report.
The man was probably homeless, he said.
The area where the body was found is not far from the fishing docks, where scores of poor Burmese live and work as crew members.
The area is often referred to as “The Burmese Cemetery” because of the seemingly high number of Burmese corpses that have been found there over the years.
