Air hostess grants offered to needy dreamers | Thaiger

PHUKET: The government is offering 60 scholarships for good-looking, tall, well educated Thai women living in poverty to realize their dreams of becoming air hostesses. Under the “Eur Ah-torn Air Hostess Project”, women granted the scholarships will attend the three-month basic cabin attendant course at the Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) in Bangkok. The project, says an announcement from the Phuket Provincial Public Relations Office (PPRO), is aimed at giving poor, underprivileged women from all regions of Thailand the chance to “serve air passengers with the warmth of traditional Thai culture”. In addition to being impoverished, says the announcement, applicants should be service-minded, “well-presented”, taller than 160cm, under the age of 25, single and have at least a bachelor’s degree. They must also have a good command of English, be able to swim at least 50 meters offshore and have good natural vision. Application forms are available from the PPRO on Narisorn Rd, Phuket City (Tel: 076-216118), and should be sent to: Eur Ah-torn Air-hostess Project, Civil Aviation Training Center, 1032/355 Phaholyothin Rd, Ladyao, Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900. Applications must reach the CATC by April 23. For more information, call the CATC at Tel: 02-2726115.
