Thai police uncover British man’s decomposing body in Pattaya

The Royal Thai Police (RTP) on Monday discovered the deeply disturbing sight of a British man’s decomposing body inside a Pattaya condominium.

Pattaya Police Station received notification of the body, prompting a swift response from officers and Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue workers.

Upon arrival, Pattaya police officers found the dead man, identified as Harold Jhon Milligan, a 63 year old British man, lying face down in an advanced state of decomposition.

Clad in a red tank top and brown shorts, there were no apparent signs of injury or struggle. Authorities estimated he had been deceased for approximately three days.

Patcharapan Pawarespongsakorn revealed she was the caretaker for the deceased due to his illness and inability to walk, requiring constant wheelchair use. Prior to the discovery, the 50 year old woman attempted to contact Milligan for two days to no avail.

On the day of the grim finding, she spotted his body through a glass door at the rear of the condo unit and promptly alerted security guards and the police.

The body underwent transportation to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. Authorities also notified the British Embassy to inform the deceased’s relatives.

Death in Pattaya, whether it is suicide or natural causes, seems to be a common theme in Thailand’s very own “Sin City.” In January this year, the owner of a luxury condominium in the Sriracha district of Chon Buri found the dead body of a naked British man inside the room. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

The juristic person of the condo told Channel 7 that the British man, 57 year old Matthew, usually bought products from a convenience store on the ground floor of the condo. However, condo staff members, including the maids, had not seen Matthew for several days.

The juristic person decided to contact the Thai owner of the condo room to get a spare key to check on the Englishman. Upon opening the room, they were shocked by the tragic scene of Matthew’s lifeless body at the door.
