NONTHABURI: A thief out to strip a car of valuables stripped himself naked in a bid to persuade police he was mad and deserving of sympathy. But his ploy failed. His ability as a performer was duly noted because the car he chose to break into belonged to Ploy Jaroenpura, 37, the elder sister of the singer Mai Jaroenpura, and mother of Pimpa “Namwan” Jaroenpakdee, a member of teenage girl group Zaza. She reported the robbery-in-progress to the police at Parkred Police Station, who sent a unit and surprised the man in action outside the house. Pol Sub Lt Terdkiat Janthasingh, said, “The thief saw me and he took off his blue pants. I thought he must be insane, but he confessed later that he was just pretending to be. Then he tried to run away. It was ugly.” The arrested suspect, Mana Suksakon, 45, admitted, “I’m not crazy, I just wanted to confuse the police.” K. Ploy said, “This guy is psycho. Luckily no one was hurt.”
